Dear Sinclair Families:
Our first day back was wintery and fun! It was nice to both hear and see students onsite as they learned together and enjoyed some wintery outdoor play at recess time. For student safety and to ensure that staff can park their cars in all spaces in our small parking lot, we ask that students, even with a parent nearby, not play on the snow hill at the top of the path at the front of the school. The safety information that students received during our City of Kingston Snow Plow presentation highlighted the importance of not playing in areas where there are parked or moving vehicles. Thank you for understanding this use of space, and reinforcing choices for play that align with this safety expectation/message.
Ms. Shaw, our new OA, enjoyed her first day at RG Sinclair! Ms. Ambury shared news with staff, students and families that she is retiring at the end of January! We wish her all the best in retirement and the adventures ahead!
For awareness, if buses are cancelled on a hot lunch day (Tuesday or Thursday), we do not cancel the order. We typically have about 1/2 to 2/3 of students attending on these days.
A reminder to report your child's absence, even when they take the bus and transportation has been cancelled by TriBoard, using the Safe Arrival app or by calling 1855-257 9349.
Thank you for making arrangements when your child is too sick to attend school. We understand and appreciate that this can be a challenge. Staying home when fevered or ill, we hope to avoid spreading illness between students and staff. At school, we will also do reminders about hand washing and covering coughs which can help us navigate through the cold and flu season.
Just prior to the break, our Grade 4/5 to Grade 8 students enjoyed a spaghetti lunch together. Thank you to Ms. Gunter and Ms. Rowsome for volunteering on this day! Thank you to the educators for organizing this fun, new experience for students.
Ellie B, in Grade 6/7, received first place at the district level Legion Remembrance Day visual arts contest. Her visual arts piece, see attached, has moved on to the provincial level contest. Well done!
Looking forward to the next month and a great end to the first term!
As always, please reach out if you have any wonderings or questions.
Thank you,
Ms. Closs - Principal
